Providing Quick Response AWS Development Environment
When an Intelligence Community (IC) customer came to us with a problem they were facing, BI&A relied on its AWS partnership to develop a quick turn solution. The Government was faced with the issue of shutting down a vulnerable unclassified development environment, but they would not be able to have a replacement environment stood up before the turn off date. Rather than stopping the development of mission critical capabilities they turned to BI&A for help.
Under an existing contract, BI&A developed a hybrid on-prem and AWS cloud solution to support multiple development teams. AWS GovCloud was our target environment to give our government customer a secure solution that is FedRAMP compliant. The new GovCloud development environment supports software development and continuous integration (CI) pipelines for a critical microservices program. BI&A architected a solution using Amazon RDS for MariaDB, RDS for PostgreSQL, Simple Storage Service (S3), Lambda, and Elastic Load Balancing services along with compute resources in EC2 and supporting networking services.
AWS Landing Zone Accelerator (LZA) is being used to quickly deploy the new environment. Use of LZA allows us to fully automate the deployment process and develop a secure, compliant environment for us to make sure our customer has no disruption to their mission.
